Dragon Soul Press had the opportunity to interview Cassandra Jones, an author featured in DSP’s Beautiful Darkness: Volume 3, Malice, Holiday Spirit, and Soul Chaser.
- Introduce yourself.
Hi I’m Cassandra! I am an author from a very small town in West Virginia. So small it’s literally a circle road with four hills. When I’m not writing, or reading, I love to draw, paint, work on the family history, diamond painting, making crafts and creepy dolls. - What prompted you to begin writing?
I have always loved to read and when I was thirteen I decided I wanted to try to write my own stories. - Do you have a favorite story or poem you’ve written? What’s it about?
My upcoming novel The Hunt For Amanda. It’s a second chance story about a couple who have to find their missing daughter. The FMC is named after and loosely based on my best friend who we lost in 2012. - How many projects do you have planned over the next few years? Tell us about one.
I have a few short story collections I am working on, a book about the history of my hometown, and a book series with six books (and maybe a next generation series after that).
The series starts with Keeping Mykinze Safe. Roy Blake has to protect his daughter from a man he has been trying to catch. It’s Crime Fiction. - What is your writing process like?
I usually start out plotting. I figure out character names, plot, back stories, and then I usually just wing it. I make storyboards for everything I write and usually covers for the stories to use as inspiration. They’re not always the covers used in the end. - Where do you draw inspiration from?
People around me, movies and TV shows, books. - Who is your favorite author / what is your favorite book?
Karen Young is my most favorite author, although I have a lot of favorites. My favorite book is Sugar Baby by Karen Young. - What is one goal you have for your writing future?
To be able to connect with readers through my books and in person. - What do you hope readers enjoy most from your work?
I hope they can enjoy the stories and the characters. I hope the characters are relatable to readers. - Where can readers learn more about you?
