Author interview with Fulvio Gatti

Dragon Soul Press took time to interview Fulvio Gatti, an author featured in Across Time and A Death in the Night.

I’m an ESL writer from Italy who found his way by writing and publishing in English, mostly short stories by now. For many reasons, some of them goods, my speculative fiction roots and attitude works better on the International market. I’m a journalist and as a volunteer I’m active in local politics, with a broad range of interests that sometimes conflict with one another (that’s fun, most of the times). Also, I’m a dad, with plenty of daddy jokes always ready (poor family of mine!).

  1. What prompted you to begin writing?
    • All I know is that I have old schoolbooks from when I was a kid: I started writing stories
at the same time as I learned to write.
  2. Do you have a favorite story or poem you’ve written? What’s it about?
    • Too many to chose. Still, I’m quite proud of my indie published collection “The Record
Store at the Edge of the Time Stream”. Might not be perfect, but it’s about rock music
and time travel and it wouldn’t exist on the market if it wasn’t for a gentle “push” from two
      different mentors of mine.
  3. How many projects do you have planned over the next few years? Tell us about one.
    • I’d love to write and publish more short stories, complete another novel and see what the
      future holds in place.
  4. What is your writing process like?
    • I find the time to write, then write, and I’m happy when I don’t hate what I wrote.
  5. Where do you draw inspiration from?
    • Everyday life colliding with speculative fiction tropes often make very endearing stories!
  6. Who is your favorite author / what is your favorite book?
    • Too many, recently I’ve enjoyed reading John Scalzi and Suzanne Palmer while two
classic sci-fi faves of mine are Frederik Pohl and P.J. Farmer.
  7. What is one goal you have for your writing future?
    • Enjoying the process, get some recognition and through that write more and better.
  8. What do you hope readers enjoy most from your work?
    • I hope they have a good time, enjoy the time they spend with my characters and be
interested by the ideas beneath the surface.
  9. Where can readers learn more about you?
