Author interview with Ellie A. Goss

Dragon Soul Press took a moment to interview Ellie A. Goss, an author featured in Fairy Rites and Beautiful Darkness: Volume One.

  1. Introduce yourself.
    • Hi I write fairytale, fantasy and soft horror as Ellie A Goss. Living in the beautiful state of
Tasmania I am surrounded by National Parks and the inspiration and therapy they gift.
  2. What prompted you to begin writing?
    • Ok, it was school. As a child I loved to write and then life and academic writing, Im
talking about essays and research papers that started to give me a nudge, followed by a
push from my daughter to reconnect.
  3. Do you have a favorite story or poem you’ve written? What’s it about?
    • Hmm, that’s tricky. My first published book, The Bunyip’s Bath, is definitely on the list of
favorites as it tells the story of the bullying Bunyip but at the same time weaves the
landscape and region into the story, divulging information casually. Other favorites
include the soon to be released Fairy Rites, Solstice Kiss, an extended story from the
original flash piece Solstice Slumber. There’s just so much to work with in this story, as it
introduces the fantasy characters that have created and guard the balance of the
      seasons, the world and stars…….
  4. How many projects do you have planned over the next few years? Tell us about one.
    • I think I share the stage with other writers if I were to say several projects are lined up
over the next few years including at least three children’s picture books, at least two
short story compilations including and adult fairytale book, A Fae Phantasia but I am
possibly most excited about a middle years book that involves a young girl apprenticed
to a goblin. It involves an underground world, a trapped race of magicians,a new
species of character, ceremonies and a tonne of magic. Did I mention the goblin
language of Gudendarc. The first book is written and is in line for some editing.
  5. What is one goal you have for your writing future?
    • Goals, you remember Ron Weasley and that Quidditch Cup? My cup would be full with a
few very specific but modest winning accolades like; the local Fellowship of Australia/Tasmania
Nairda Lyne award for short story writing, CBCA children’s book of the year, an Aurealis award
which basically boils down to writing stories that people enjoy.
  6. Where can readers learn more about you?
